In 1958 Bobby Joe Burns killed his mother in the kitchen of their home. It was said that voices caused him to do this act. He spent the rest of his life in a mental institution and is believed he died in the 80's. More information of this event can be found on the link Below.

Investigation details

Upon entering the Burns home on the night of the investigation, our first task was to interview the clients that currently live in the home.  Once we concluded the interview process, the clients left the home and we set out to start the investigation.

We performed a walk through of the home to check for anything that might contaminate the investigation, like clocks, air conditioner, etc.  We started by turning of the air conditioning and making sure all windows were closed.  Our next task, taking pre-investigation EMF readings from around the house found that this home had high readings throughout.  It was during this time, that Tina had gone into the master bedroom.

She said she felt a breeze against her back that had enough force to push her shirt against her.  Remember, we had already turned off the air conditioner and made sure that all of the windows were closed.  There was no human or manmade reason for a breeze.  We were encouraged that we might capture something this evening.

Next, we started setting up video cameras.  We placed a camera in the kitchen and one in the hallway, and kept one with the team.  We were ready to go lights out and start our EVP work.  Our plan was to start our EVP session in the living room but before we could, there was a rather loud "knock" sound that came from the direction of the kitchen.  We proceeded to the kitchen to investigate.  We found no cabinets were opened or ajar, nor did we find anything that might have fallen that accounted for the knock.  A little while later we heard yet another "knock" sound but again, we were unable to find where this sound came from.

Don moved to a place between the living room and dining room area facing the hallway where the video camera was set up, and at one point he thought he saw a shadow about three and a half feet tall approach the bathroom doorway.  Unfortunately, this did not show up on the video.

We continued with a routine investigation moving throughout the home spending time in all of the common rooms. We split into two groups with one team of two staying in the home and investigating the bedrooms while the other two investigated the detached garage.  At the halfway point in the investigation we switched positions with the other team of two.

Neither team experienced anything at all in the garage. Team #1 (Tina and Don) had an experience while in the house.  They were both standing still when Don heard what sounded like slow footsteps and following the footsteps; they heard a "pop" like sound of a hardwood floor. Team #2 (Adrian and Barry) upon entering the home noticed that the kitchen video camera and external light was off.  This camera and light had enough battery life for 3 hours, the same amount as the hallway camera that was still working. Upon review of the camera we found that it had turned off after only twenty minutes. I’ve never had a battery drain on an investigation like this!  We then moved to the master bedroom and during our EVP session Barry felt as if was something was touching him on his left side.  I turned the video camera on him and didn’t see anything, but as I was mentioning this to him I felt a wave of cold run up my right arm as if I had an air conditioner vent next to me.  Remember, no air conditioners or fans were running during our investigation!  And no windows were open to allow a breeze…it was just cold!

As the team reunited in the home, we discussed what happened to me and Barry.  We tried to get it to happen again. Unfortunately, it was not duplicated.  We were left with only the knocks captured on our video cameras.
